Hey everyone! So I got a 2400 on my SAT’s and I’m a little clueless about what to do next. I’m a junior and I have an unweighted 3.8 gpa, and I’m working really hard to pull it up to a 3.9, but in terms of college prep that’s all I’m doing. I got a 1490/1520 on my PSAT (223 NMSC Selection Index) which is in the 99% so hopefully that’ll get me a NMS semi-finalist in NJ. I’m mainly focusing on schools in the tri-state area…I don’t really care that much about Ivy’s but I’m not opposed to it. I know this sounds like a champagne problem, but I’ve spent so long just focusing on the SAT’s that I have no idea what comes after. Do you guys have any tips or recommendations as to what I should do next to get scholarships/apply to college? I haven’t really told anyone yet except my parents, my guidance counselor and my principal. My parents were excited but my principal didn’t care that much, he just kinda shoved it off. So is it even that big of a deal? And even if I was able to get scholarships, how would I go about doing so? Thank you in advance for all your help, I really appreciate it.
Some state schools list requirements for merit aid. I’m not sure about Rutgers. Lots of great schools in your area. Get online and make a list, read their websites, and if possible visit as many as possible during your spring break if the college is in session. You need a safety which is guaranteed admission and affordable. Rutgers? Your safety has to be a place you would like to attend. Several matches which for you would be many Top 50 schools and then several reaches which are Ivies, Stanford, MIT, etc. Those schools are reaches for everyone as opposed to match. Search the forum and you’ll learn more.
