When did you guys start taking four classes, as in what year at UCLA? I'm asking this because I have a dilemma right now and am now sure how to go about it. I'm going to be a sophomore and want to start taking four classes (previously, I took only three classes plus some fiat luxes), but the two options that I have are either 1) physics, ochem, chinese, and a ge or 2) physics, ochem, chinese, and math (it'll be 32b when I start in fall). So..which one sounds more doable, and should I attempt the four-class thing, or just stick to three classes? I'm so scared for fall quarter ;_;

I wouldn’t take more than 1 or 2 science/math classes if you want to take 4 classes. I’m a sophomore also, but it just doesn’t sound particularly doable to have physics, ochem, AND math in one quarter, especially if you also have a ge to deal with. I’d go with the first schedule.

I have a feeling someone is going to counter me now by saying they took 14D, 32A, LS2, and 6A in the same quarter and got A+'s or something

I took 20A, 1A, 33A and Math 170A in the same quarter. It wasn’t overly time consuming (though the first two had no assigned hw), but I would suggest going with the GE. Still, you might want to save it for when you’re taking upper divs

Freshman year – Winter Quarter, I took 22 units (5 Classes). It was a bit intense, but doable if you’re really devoted to your work!

It all depends on your mindset, if you feel that 4 classes will be too much, than you will end up approaching your quarter in that manner. If you feel that you’re on track with your major, I suggest sticking with 3 classes for the quarter and possibly think about taking summer session classes to make yourself feel better.

I just take 3 classes per quarter and then take 3-4 classes over the summer… so it’s as if I took 4 classes per quarter during the year.
