Yingcai: Oh ok I participated in the GIN conference and I met some of your friends from SYA. Like Faith?

Ysbera: Haha you met Faith Mulroy?! Wow small world. do you go to WAB then?

Yea but can you dance Ballet? All kidding aside they rejected our HS Val and Sal's both of whom had higher test scores and great EC's. Locally they took a kid who was also excellent on paper but his passion was dancing Ballet....Stanford has a lot of kids that speak Chinese...can't say if it helps or not. The Val by the way....2390 SAT all 800's on SAT II and 5.6 GPA. They deferred the Sals and later rejected them as well...Honestly if unless you are from Califorina, your school gets a lot of kids into Stanford...or are an legacy...then SCEA may be a waste and I would never tell anyone to waste their early admit on Stanford unless you have a national hook...i.e. natioanally recognized award winner in a competetive area. Even with its slightly statistically higher chance of admission I woudl go RD and take a chance as otherwise you loose out on a school with a better chance of RD acceptance. With that said Stanford has a great campus and I would never knock the school, its admissions consistency yes, the school no. It is private and has to balance its class. They want quirky types that they feel are interesting...so if you dance th eballet...maybe- by the way that is a true story. You havfe to come up with a wierd hook that is off mainstream.

Jesus, that sounds crazy. I'm not exactly "quirky", but I plan to study Chinese at the school (made this top choice on common app). I think that I am at least remotely suited for the Chinese language/history/culture Departments. At the same time, if I don't get in to Stanford, its not the end of the world. Plus, although a lot of people may speak Chinese, it is not that impressive if they have been raised speaking it. I am Equally fluent in both Danish and English, Chinese being my 3rd language.

Yea I met her and I go to wab. It would be really cool if we met in Stanford next year (hopefully) haha :).
