So I just applied to Berkeley, UMich, GA Tech, and USC so far...

Along with UCLA, UC Irvine, and UCSD. I am applying as a transfer for electrical engineering and computer science and I am finishing my last pre-req courses this semester at my current CC. My application for GA Tech is on hold because they want to see what grades I get after this semester.

Should I be looking forward for the results?

Is this some weird kind of chance me question?

From a previous thread, you held mistaken beliefs about funding (believing that an OOS student would receive “reduced” tuition at the UCs). UMich has bad Fin Aid for OOS too. Have you surmounted that hurdle or have you simply set it aside, hoping for the best?

Honestly, I believe it is worth the investment. Down the road, I will be able to obtain jobs that will probably pay as much as the entire tuition in just one year. So I am willing to dish out the money to receive the highest quality education possible.

Will you actually be able to take out that much in loans if you don’t have enough in savings?

I don’t see why not. Besides, I am only paying for 2 years compared to 4 years if I was applying as a Freshman. So it would not be much different in price compared to those in my state who attend UF for 4 years as Freshman.

Unless you find someone with good credit willing to co-sign with you for $80K, you’re stuck. You’re only eligible to obtain $5K per year. How do you intend to find the other $80,000 for your two remaining years?

True, your intended fields of study pay well out of college but you seem to be deficient at researching and understanding the financing leg of this – you’ve shown some profound misunderstanding of college financing at this point. You’re a FL resident and a CC transfer student and should expect almost fin aid. Hopefully you’ve applied to some FL 4-year schools because your current path will lead to closed doors.

Please take some time to attack this. It presents a major hurdle. The fin aid people at your community college will be well versed in how students like yourself can seek the maximum dollars for future study. Please go to them. They are paid to help you and inform you.

If you choose to ignore this, then expect to have no options besides taking more classes at your CC this summer and fall. Good luck
