Hey guys, I just had my Penn Interview an hour ago, and I was hoping to ask a few questions.

1) What should I usually write in a thank you note/e-mail? I usually just write I enjoyed the interview, thank you for you time, etc. Would this be enough?

2) This is kind of a dumb question, but I conducted my interview via Skype and I was wondering if I should unfriend the interviewer after the interview. It would strike me a little weird to keep my interviewer on my contacts list if you know what I'm saying...but it would also strike me as impolite to unfriend someone right after. Any thoughts?

Danke Schon!!! :)

-1- Personalize your thank you note / email somewhat based on a topic(s) you both had in common. Ideally stand out this way versus sending a generic thank you. And email is fine, although if you happen to have their home address already then a hand-written thank you card would certainly stand out if you can get it to them relatively soon. I’m guessing that maybe 50% or less of the interviewees send a thank you (higher % on CC of course!), and that probably 1-2% send it handwritten by snail mail.

-2- Don’t unfriend until later. Even though you’re not planning to Skype them again there’s no need to rush it and possibly put a negative thought in the interviewer’s mind.

(Just the perspective of a mid-life aged adult…if your interviewer was early to mid 20’s then a handwritten note may not be any better than an email) ;-)

Thanks! I kept it short and simple since interviewers are busy professionals as well. I sent an e-mail mostly because I didn’t know my interviewer’s address, and the fact that we’re far apart anyway (we live in a different country…) hence the need for us to Skype.

Thanks!!!
