So I kinda sorta have an idea, but not really.

Currently a junior, and looking for advice:

-Am I on par with the Ivies (not HYP necessarily, but Dartmouth/Cornell/Penn)?
-Or should I aim towards "second-tier" schools like Northwestern, Emory, Rice, Duke, etc. (just going along with stereotypical rankings - I know they're not second-tier)
-As for major/career interests, I'm really interested in combining Statistics/Economics/Sociology to work in market research or something like that...any recommendations for schools?

SAT I (breakdown): 800 CR, 770 M, 800 W = 2370
SAT II: 800 Math IIC, going to take US History and Lit - expecting 750+ for both
GPA: 3.97 UW, 4.47 W
Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): I don't think we rank
AP (place score in parenthesis): Euro. History (5), Chem. (5), Stats. (5), currently taking Spanish, Calculus AB, APEL, APUSH, and Physics C Mech.
Senior Year Course Load: APEL, AP Gov, AP Calc BC, AP Bio, AP Art History, Teacher's Aide or offroll
Major Awards: probably National Merit Semifinalist, AP Scholar, all that jazz, some typical school awards, and some awards from beauty/scholarship pageants...do those count? LOL

Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis):
DECA - president 2 years, raised about $1000
Key Club - event leader
We the People - VP
National Honors Society, Academic Bowl, etc.
JV Cross Country (3 years), Varsity (senior year)
Community Orchestra (7 years)
Planning on starting my own feminist activism club dedicated to raising awareness/fundraising, etc.

Oh, and I write my own feminist blog...LOL does that count? (I try to post once per month, and I actually do have followers...)

Job/Work Experience:
Camp aide (2 summers, paid)
Intern at local marketing company (this year + this summer)

Volunteer/Community service: 280-ish cumulative hours
-Library, local thrift shop, Key Club, etc.

State (if domestic applicant): CA
School Type: Competitive Public
Ethnicity: Asian

Recommendations/comments/advice?
What kind of schools should I aim for?
(And which schools would you recommend for Statistics/Economics/Sociology?)

Yes, you’re definitely on par with the ivies (all of them, including HYP) with your scores. Provided you have good recs and decent essays, you should get into at least a few of the ivies- but you never know. It’s a crapshoot. Just make sure to show them what you really are interested in.

Are you fishing for compliments? A 2370 SAT? You are an excellent applicant. Obviously everyone has low chances, but you have the numbers. Sadly you do have somewhat typical extracurriculars. Other than the volatile role of essays in the admissions process, you are good. I think you can package yourself on the whole marketing thing.
