So I’m on my second day of college and I feel overwhelmed and about to cry...

Now before you think this’ll be a schpeel that you’ve heard dozens of times already. It won’t.

I texted my mom that I think I’m taking too many classes in my major at once (a major that I’m not all that excited about, btw).

She responds with telling me that I complain too much and that I want things easy. I tell her back that I am not complaining, just concerned. Clearly that get through to her cuz she just kept piling on how much I complain. Even though she should clearly notice that I’m in a new environment with new responsibilities and new people, etc. And she expects me to be thankful to her for losing a significant amount of sleep and skipping entire meals just because I have to get to class.

Is this normal? I’m on the verge of tears. If she wanted me to go somewhere close to home then why not a community college? Can parents be just that prideful to parade their kids around like that?

Well you must have 13 credits. You can drop a class if you have more than that and you’re overwhelmed.

Why don’t you talk to your advisor about dropping something and picking up an easier class. Why did you involve
your mother in this? You need to take the reins and see your options.

Two days is soon to complain.

I am on your mother’s side simply based on the tone of your original post.

OP, please go to the counseling center at your school TODAY and ask to talk to someone. It’s clear from your posts that you need more help than strangers on the internet can give you. You need to make your mental health a priority. I am closing this thread.
