So, I want to ace Math II and Lit.

I've got the Barron's books for both subjects and the Official Subject Test Guide. I got 800 on Math and 740 on CR for the SAT I. I have 2 Math A-levels but need to read more classics.

I want to take the tests this October. When (and how) do I start studying?

Thanks awfully :)

Hey python38,
Just a warning: I used Barron’s Lit as well, and from my experience (and the experiences of other test-takers on CC, apparently) it will over-prepare you for the vocabulary. Vocabulary isn’t a huge part of the exam-- analysis is.

Also, the Barron’s tests (for lit, but also for math from what I’ve heard) are significantly harder than the actual test, so don’t panic if you get a bad score. I recommend checking out the Kaplan Literature prep book from the library and trying their review/practice tests (your scores from Kaplan are probably going to be more realistic).

Reading is helpful, but you should have been doing that for years now in order for that to really boost your score. Try reading poetry as well. In my experience (I’ve taken Lit twice) I have found the poetry harder than the prose on the test. Read actively and critically. I don’t know if this helps, but maybe try reading some of Shakespeare’s sonnets on the morning before the test, to warm up your brain.

Oh, and read the post left by lolcats (he got an 800 on his test). They helped tremendously.
