hahaha you have "suggested" work out hours!?! and the heritage grove houses are amazing!

bomc- what makes the heritage groove houses amazing?

You can live in Heritage Grove even if you are not a fraternity member. The non-profit apartments are two single bedrooms, furnished and have all the appliances including washer/dryer and dishwasher. A bus takes you to campus and they are right across from a Publix supermarket. Heritage Grove is the only off-campus apartment that takes the Florida Prepaid dorm contract towards your rent.

Here is an example of a frat in Heritage Grove:

sorry for such the late response. the heritage grove houses are nice because they are huuuuuuge. they are these amazing mansions that they host crazy large and out of control parties basically.

NO HAZING?? LOL!!!!! two of my friends...oh the two them and what they have been going through, lol.

Are the frat houses floorplans at heritage groove opened up? I mean it seems like they were originally designed as separate apartments?
At what year do the frat brothers move into the hOuses? What percentage of brothers choose to live in the house VS live outside of the HOsue? I saw a bike trail or walking path on a map from Heritage groove to the campus, HOw long does it take to walk or bike it?

There is also a bus that picks up from Heritage Grove and takes you to campus.
Here is the route:
http://parking.fsu.edu/PDF/HGROVE.pdf

Heritage Grove 7:00am- 7:00pm

Route serves Ocala Road, Tennessee Street, the campus and Pensacola Street (clockwise pattern). The bus comes every 20 minutes to off-campus stops. There are 200 parking spaces available at the large commuter lot at Heritage Grove. This is a good place to park your car then ride the Seminole Express shuttle to/from campus!

Our son is in a fraternity at Heritage Grove, and he would like to live at the house. Does Florida Prepaid cover any portion of fraternity housing at Heritage Grove?

Hey, I was wondering what you meant by the pledging process being hell. I was planning on pledging for a sorority and i would love details.

Yeah, how long is the pledging and how bad is the hazing? I know it has probably toned down from past years, but how is it?

our s pledged Pi Kappa Phi. there was no real hazing to speak of. there is a substantial time commitment for chapter meetings, community service oriented projects etc. I think it depends on the frat. Some have a more challenging pledge process than others. We were happy that our s selected a frat that didnt use any of those pledge tactics that we have all heard of.
The frat house is being renovated this summer on college avenue . our s decided to live there next Fall. I can give you a better report when we drop him off in August. The nice thing about the house location is that it is practically on campus and he will be able to walk and not have to depend on driving and/or public transportation.
Greek life is not for everyone. The campus has so much else to offer and greek life is only one dimension. The main thing is to make sure that you feel comfortable with the members of the frat/sorority and can see yourself being friends with them. Good luck, but so far
huge thumbs up for Pi Kappa Phi.

Be sure to look at the academic record of the various frats/sororities! This is a component of Greek life that never seems to get mentioned. A friend’s son pledged a frat his first semester on campus (a large, prestigious state school in a different state), and by the end of his second semester, his gpa disqualified him for entrance into their business school track. His parents wished they had kept better tabs on what he was doing because had they looked at the listed gpas, they would have noticed that his frat was second from the bottom. Please be cognizant of your track in your intended major and make sure the frat/sorority you pledge takes their academics seriously. You can have fun, AND get to where you want to go - just be selective.
