so i'm thinkin of applying here but i have no junior AP marks to report..

Hey guys!

So I've been thinking about applying to Columbia, but as the title of my thread suggests, I don't have any AP marks to report for junior year. Do you think this will damage my application significantly?
My school does offer APs, albeit only to kids in senior year. However, a lot of kids from my area attend similar schools where APs are only offered for seniors, and they're taking the course outside of school. I was about to self study some easier APs but now I'm having trouble finding an AP coordinator.. needless to say, the likelihood I'll be able to even take any AP exams during my junior year is slim.

However, I am planning on taking 5 AP courses my senior year (out of 6 offered at my school), and currently I'm taking 3 "Pre-AP" courses at my school.

What do you guys think?

Thanks in advance!

If your school doesn’t offer AP exams in junior year, then I don’t think you won’t be penalized for not taking them! APs aren’t a requirement for admission anyway. As long as you make a good-faith effort to take the toughest classes you can and do well in them, you should be fine. Your GPA and SAT scores will matter much more than whether you were able to find a private AP coordinator. More importantly, you have to have passions and interests and show that you are more than just a good student. So i the long run, this won’t matter at all.
