What is everything I need to achieve a good score on the test?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Cliff's AP Bio Notes! I had the worst AP Bio class ever. We didnt go over like more than half the material...so I had to learn all of it on my own (I didn't even end up studying all of it). Cliff's saved the day though... and I got a 5.

Wow Liberty that is quite impressive. Thanks for the advice.

Another question: Would I need to obtain a Bio book somehow along with the Cliff's AP Bio notes?

Read through Campbell's biology, preferably 6th or 7th edition.

I am self studying for AP bio as well. I am just reading 1 chapter a day of Campbell's 6th (55 chapters) and reviewing with Cliff's.

Which year or edition of Cliffs are you guys using?

I read Campbell's too, and studied with Princeton Review. I had the class, but never heard a word the teacher said...we were always three chapters behind schedule and I wasn't going to be stuck cramming on the last week! I got a 5 too.

Would I have to purchase the Campbell's edition?

I better make sure they'll let me take the test even though I won't take the course.

Also bandito, when are you taking the AP bio test? End of school year next year and you'll finish it in 55 days? Might need some explanation how that'll work for ya.

thanks again for all the help.

I didn't self-study, but I have to agree with what others have said: Campbells + CliffsAP. The Campbell book covers everything in great (and sometimes excessive) detail, but it's good for when you don't understand something or need to look at the diagrams - the Cliffs book breaks the material down to exactly what you need to know.

Alrighty, I see a used 6th edition on ebay for around $20 and ends in 15 hours. Is this the right one?

I have question's for some people that have self studied. Have you found that you have time to read all this in the school year? I'm taking 2 AP's and one PreAP so I'm not like some people on these forum's.

Yup, thats the right book. There's a more recent edition out but there's really no need to pay more for it - not much has changed.

Alrighty

Thanks tanman.

Campbell's is overkill for the AP. As long as you've taken a high school level bio survey course before, CliffsAP should be all you need.

In a nutshell, Cliffs has all you need to know. However, if you stumble across certain topics that seem enigmatic then I'd recomend looking it up online, or talk to one of your science teachers at school. Oh, also--two weeks before the exam make a review room like this one http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=56946&highlight=Biology+Review. We got a lot accomplished, despite some trivial questions. I don't know, I got a 5 and I thought the test was a joke.

Duffclown, I am reading campbells over the summer and will have the entire year to review for the test. :)

This way I won't have to be too stressed during the school year. btw, I am also reading through Campbells partly for SAT II Bio.

^^Good philosophy.

I've taken HS biology before and did fairly well, but we didn't cover everything.

I think I'm going to see how the school year is around the first 9 weeks or so, make sure I can take the test independently, and then get the Campbell's and Cliffnotes (wanna play it safe on the Campbell's book)
