But, unfortunately, I’m not longer sure if Business is my thing. I was originally considering trying to double major in Marketing and English, but I’m starting to think that I want to just major in English.

Should I try to switch which school I’m applying to? Is that even possible? All of my documents have been received by the school, so I can’t change anything through Agora.

Would it be wise to switch schools? Or should I hope I get into CSOM, see how I feel about marketing, and then switch after? I heard that CSOM is much harder to get into than the other schools at BC, and I’m worried that I’ll lose the chance to study English at the school that I absolutely adored simply because I applied to its business school.

It’s late, and my post might be somewhat incoherent, but thanks for any help you guys can give.

Not sure if it’s even relevant here, but my GPA is a 94.2 or so and my SAT scores were 720 CR, 660 M, and 770 W.

If you switch out of CSOM it will be much harder to switch back in, especially compared to if you wanted to switch out into A&S. If you have no desire to study business than there is no point to being in CSOM. English majors from BC get good marketing jobs and internships, you just have to work a bit harder to get them. You could also study advertising through the communications major at BC and do that with English.

Double majoring with CSOM and A&S is difficult but can be done, helps to have a lot of AP credits.

Not sure how CSOM does their admissions, your lower math SAT might hurt you relative to how A&S, but that is purely speculation. CSOM is harder but not much harder, if you don’t get into CSOM it is highly unlikely you would have gotten into A&S.

I’ve gotten a 3 on AP World, 4 on Euro, 4 on US, and a 5 on AP Lang. and Comp.

I’m taking three more APs this year (Psych, Lit, Government) and I’m obviously planning on getting above a 3 on those three.

I’m not really worried about being able to transfer out of CSOM if I want to…I’ll just be mad at myself if I don’t get into BC because CSOM is a bit harder to get into, and I was going to switch anyway. I just don’t know if it would be smart to attempt to switch before decisions are in. I don’t even know if I can do that.

The period of waiting for college decisions is incredibly stressful. I e-mailed one school frantically apologizing for saying I intended to major in something they didn’t have, going on and on about how it was an honest mistake but I was serious about that school and had visited and done research. Then they e-mailed me telling me said major did exist. I then panicked more than I had before. A few days later I got into the school. Moral of the story? Don’t freak out about these details, just wait for your decision to come. If you really don’t want to do business, call admissions. I am sure they can switch it for you and would probably be happy to do so, no reason admitting you into CSOM just to have you change.

You need a 4 or 5 to get core credit from AP scores. You are out of the English core and one half of the history core (AP US only counts for US requirement for history majors). Psych and Gov can get you out of social studies.

In other news, I can tell you from personal experience that the English department at BC is phenomenal.

The acceptance rate difference is only 3% between CSOM and A&S. As far as whether or not to study marketing, I would wait until you have taken a few business courses before you emphatically change your mind. The reality is that switching into A&S from CSOM is simple but the reverse is nearly impossible. Don’t hedge your bets too much, just wait until you take the CSOM core before you make an emphatic decision.

Thanks, you guys. I’m going to stick with CSOM for my first year, see how I like marketing, and then make the decision to either double major or just switch to english.

Now I just play the waiting game, and find out if BC thinks I’m good enough.
