What did you write about? I finished my application one hour and twenty minutes before the deadline, a personal record.

i wrote about dr. seuss and i wrote it in the style of a dr. seuss poem- it was so much fun to do!

What did you write about? I finished my application one hour and twenty minutes before the deadline, a personal record.

i wrote about dr. seuss and i wrote it in the style of a dr. seuss poem- it was so much fun to do!

isnt the deadline tomorrow?

deadline is tomorrow. this thread made my heart stop.

yeah
i was wondering the same thing
yeah
ill post whoever i wrote about tomorrow
still have to write it
I will even tell you what location i am

haha, i'm just finishing up my first essay for it right now xD but it's so tedious and annoying, tempted to not apply, but i have all my scores sent, teacher recs, etc done, so i feel like i should finish

but i have school tomorrow :(

why couldn't it have been easier like pomonas?

^^ i hope you are not on the east coast cause here it says you wrote this today at 12:23 AM lol. and yes pomona was so incredibly simple compared to cmc.

and sorry if i caused any distress haha. but now that we are TRULY done, did anyone write about anything interesting? i'm very curious as to who people picked (if you don't mind saying, not that it makes much a difference now). writing all the other essays was horrible, but the leadership one was fun for me at least

i kind of answered the question a little off. i didnt write about someone who has influenced culture and thought in the normal sense. i wrote about a leader of an outdoor trip and how he influenced the culture and shape of our trip. still working on the fill in the blanks

My "leader" I wrote about: http://onemansblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/06/TankMan.jpg

not even kidding. I wanted to do Jack Bauer, but parents thought I was crazy.

actually it's due in ~1.5 hours right? midnight of the 2nd? it better be or else i will be VERY mad

i have a question... still working on my analytical essay.
does anyone have a length apporximation? i don't want to make it too long or too short. :

Uh oh, I did a "hot chick lunch date" as well, with Heather Graham. Steveo68, when I saw "Tankman" in your link, my first thought was that you had chosen the Tankman mascot of Newgrounds.com. which would have been.. interesting. Tiananmen tank man is a good idea, though!

Mine is like one page 1.5 spaced.

thank you! that gives me at least something to shoot for. :)

mine's just about 2 pages double spaced

Thanks, superdigg. Heather is a fine choice..definitely lunch date-worthy!!!

Actually, in my history class we've been talking about censorship in China and how people can't Google "Tank Man". Also supposedly a lot of the population has no idea the incident even occurred. It's good to see the censors weren't totally successful!

whoa, I only just realized that I had somehow combined your posts here and here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/claremont-mckenna-college/440885-supplements-2.html when I replied, Steveo68. I was looking at them at the same time.

whoops. well, you got the message anyway. and yeah, that's actually true about tank man over here, but I'm a foreigner so I've been allowed a bit more exposure to that sort of stuff than perhaps the average local student has.

haha thats interesting - i thought i was gonna be the only one to think of using "tank man." i didnt write my essay about him, though, i only put him as the person whom i would take out to lunch.

my analytical essay was about the Enlightenment and John Locke. i liked the topic because it truly fit the prompt; many of the ideas conjured in the era by Locke and the other philosophers are important today.

for the world destination essay i wrote about Hawaii, how most people go there to enjoy the beaches and scenery, but miss the deep sense of culture and history beneath the surface - tied that into how there is a much deeper level to myself, more than meets the eye.

for the superhero, i created "curiosity man." i wrote it as if i were Dr. Frankenstein, and i had this body tied down before me as i mixed potions and body parts to create him. he has x-ray vision so he could seek the truth, wings so he could fly and see things from a greater perspective to understand, and a "curiosity chip" placed at the back of his neck. the main thing is he was supposed to try to learn everything so he could help others with his knowledge.

the last essay for the article of clothing, i choose i thin knitted jacket, because it would serve the purpose of a jacket, keeping you warm in the winter or at night, with a hood too, again, keeping you warm. but it was thin and comfortable enough to wear casually in the summer nights, versatile and flexible, and serving many purposes, just like me.

what do you guys think? what did you write about? (if anyone wants to read my essays, PM me)

Hmmm, for the person I took to lunch, I said Baruch Spinoza.

I wrote my analytical essay about Descartes. It's kind of interesting cause I used him for the same reasons as Ohnonomiss used Locke. His ideas actually led to the scientific revolution (in my opinion) because of the radical doubt that was so evident in his philosophy.

The world destination was actually the Bermuda Triangle, cause it's really mysterious but once you find it, you can never leave. So I kind of said that once you get to know me, you can't go back. Plus, like the Bermuda Triangle, I'm a challenge. It sounded more interesting when I wrote it.

I did the superhero as Bookworm, and pretended that I was selling action figures and clothing. I thought it was pretty funny actually, although I only analyzed a part of myself.

Then for the clothing, I did a transformer dress. Because, like me, it can adapt to any environment but also stand out in it.

After I wrote them all though, I felt so snooty cause I made myself out to be such an amazing person. Oh well, that's what they want, right?

I wrote about John Keating from Dead Poets Society for the essay... beat that! :) Weird, I know, but I think I made it work. It was mostly about teachers.

Did NYC for the city one.

For the superheroes question I wrote about how superheroes are unnecessary/irrelevant. It will either be really good or really bad... but it was near the end of my applications and I had reached the end of my rope. :P

And for the clothing one I just used a comfy sweatshirt. Because gosh darn it, I like them. (Again... I was fed up by this point, haha.)

But I think I managed to make them work... if there's one thing I can do, it's make BS sound interesting/sincere. Excellent life skill.

Person I wanted to meet: Michel de Montaigne....

World destination: The Economist Headquarters... I wrote about how it is analogous to my persona and my life goals.

Superhero: Logic man. Nuff said. Basically me ranting about how incorrect logic causes all the world's problems.

Garment: a big poofy blue winter jacket with tons of random features. The way it was written was more important than the subject manner--it was really whimsical.

If everyone could agree on the role of government, the world would be better off...
