Anyway, I have a question for those of you who were accepted ED...

Does Rice MAIL the notifications on Dec 15th, or do they plan it so we RECEIVE the letters on Dec 15th?

Also, is it big envelope = acceptance, little envelope = rejection?
Oh, and do they notify by email?

Haha, I literally had a nightmare a few months ago that I got a little letter from all my schools in the mailbox on the same day.
And I woke up feeling like such a dork. lol.

Well, I did ID last year (which doesn't exist now). We first got answers via email and they actually came a day earlier than they were supposed to come out (one day before the stated release date). I can't remember exactly when the mail came but I think it was probably a day or two after the notification date (and I live in the Northeast, aka far from Houston). I can't say what comes if you get rejected or deferred, but the acceptance letter came in a large packet, but at that point I wasn't surprised (the email ruined that).

When I applied ED 4 years ago, I got the packet (yep, it was big) on December 13, before I ever got any email notification. I lived in Dallas so it probably took about 2 days to go through the mail so I assume they mailed them out a bit earlier than the 15th.

hey so did any of you all EDers get emails from rice to notify you that they've received all of your materials? Or are we not supposed to hear from them until later?

I haven't gotten anything yet. I'm going to call later this week to see if they received the stuff guidance was supposed to send...I do NOT trust my guidance office...ugh.

^^Yeah, I did too. I was so excited when I first got it, thinking that it was confirmation or something...but I was thoroughly disappointed...:(

They won't call you and say "Thanks for submitting, your app is complete". You can call their office at 1-713-348-7423 or 1-800-527-6957 and ask if your application and all materials were received. I told my teacher I was going to the restroom and made the call in the morning, and within 2 minutes the lady told me everything was good to go.

Well, I assumed that they would send out an email (at least) reassuring the applicants that their materials were received and safe and sitting in their office.

I got an email last week telling me that somehow they didn't have my early decision agreement and my secondary school report...no idea how that happened. I only sent in everything like two weeks before the deadline. I hope that doesn't hurt my chances at all.

Everyone RELAX! You've done everything you can, and it's no longer in your hands. Worrying about your application won't make them accept you -- it will only make you anxious. It's natural to be concerned if your application hasn't been completely received, but otherwise, there's nothing else you can do; relax. Fill out other applications, spend time with your friends, spend time with your family -- you'll be leaving them in a few short months. Make it last. Everything works out in the end.

the problem is, an admission officer told me i would receive an email with a PIN code to check the status of my application, and another one said they have received my application. but i still haven't got an email with PIN number... has anyone received this email?
