So, now what??

I was wondering if anyone else accepted into UPenn got their financial aid package yet? And what else do accepted students need to fill out? Also, does Penn send a package in the mail?

bumpppp!!! haha I’m still shocked right now!! :D

Hey! Yeah, UPenn Acceptances!! Um, I did get my fin. aid (there is a link on the side). And it shows when things are due----I think the FAFSA, 2011 W-2/tax forms, etc. are all due next March-ish, though. So we’re in good shape!

Okay, thanks! I’ll have to look for it again. Is it possible that some people don’t get any fin. aid at all even if they are somewhat low income?

Oh goodness…no wonder why it didn’t say anything about fin. aid. It just said that my financial aid application was incomplete and they are going to send me a letter in the mail telling me what was missing. Then, they’ll tell me if I am eligible or not after I send everything else in. Oops!

No. My parents make over 100k (not to brag, just talking numbers) and I got fin. aid. You have to make more than I think 200 or 250k to not get aid.

Oh, gotcha! hope you get money, soon. Penn 2016!! :)

Oh okay, that’s a relief!!! I would be sad if I didn’t get any money at all… :(

Yup! Yay! Eagerly awaiting the admit package, now. Haha.

OMG me tooo!! did you join the fb group??

You all are so lucky. Being International, my chance of getting in would have been really slim (like, close to 0) if I had applied for financial aid.

Just have to get through Penn somehow, I guess. My dad makes enough right now (around 160k) although it’s really subject to change so I’ll see if I can get some scholarships and whatnot.

^I don’t think they use financial aid as a factor in the admissions process at all actually.

I did–but I don’t think the administrator accepted me yet.

And Penn is only need blind for domestic (US+Canada+Mexico) students, so I guess if you are from, say, China or Japan, need is factored in.

I have a question for those of you who did get a financial aid offer: is the deposit rate the same for everyone? Like, do we all have to pay the full $400 regardless of what we get for financial aid? It said for me that my financial aid profile was incomplete as well, so I’m just wondering if that will change after it’s applied. ($400 is a lot to come up with in 10 days for me… :frowning: I didn’t expect to get in!)

I also have to pay $400 and I got a fin. aid package. I think they just need a deposit and you pay less by the end.

@mwrecks: Haha neither did I! Congratulations!!! The $400 does go towards tuition if that helps at all.

So I’m SO excited to be going to Penn next year, but my financial aid is only 4k, although my parents make about 150k…which is a little lower than I imagined.

  1. Does anyone know how to appeal?
  2. YAY Withdrawal time. Except how does that work…
    Thanks :)

^I meant of other EA schools hahaha

@mandypandy: they do actually since they can only have so many International Financial Aid students (kind of a quota, so they might only accept like 100 with FA but 1000 without, so your chances are higher). Believe me, I’ve asked the Penn and Duke representatives at informational meetings.

Send me a PM to find out the link to the Facebook Page. I don’t think the administrator needs to accept you.

Yeah, I need to appeal my financial aid decision too or else I can’t attend. How does one do this?
