So stressed out right now... please, help me much!

Ok... so the financial aid board is no help, they it isnt active at all...

Plain and simple... even for need blind schools (especially others) will applying for financial aid hurt chances of acceptance? What percent of people apply for aid?

I will 99.99999% not get financial aid, but my mom wants to apply. However... I don't want my admissions affected. Here is the question: If a college sees that I marked "will apply for financial aid"... does it hold a stigma? When they are reviewing my file... will they see the actual amount my family and see that I really don't need aid... or will they just see that I am applying for it?

Does that make sense? Other question... if I dont apply for aid, can I still be given merit money by schools?

Also... can I still apply for finacial aid if I don't mark that box...? Or can I not apply if I do?

yeah i want to know this too

if it's need-blind which stanford is than FA doesn't change ur chances, but if it isn't need-blind than it probably will.

Ok... I mean... does only the AMOUNT you can pay affect your chances... or just the fact that you ARE APPLYING for financial aid affect your chances.

please help... im dying here

well the amount u can pay kind of goes against the whole need-blind thing so i wouldn't be concerned. Besides u don't know how much u will get so don't worry about it.
FA is the sth to worry about later. school and college essays, decisions r enough for us.

Half of Stanford's kids get aid. Stop freaking out. Your mom has a right to make you fill out the forms unless you're paying.

Yes... I understand... but what about non need blind schools? Do they just see that I am applying for aid... or know how much aid I would get?

well that would kind of hurt but ur stats r good so i guess u can think of merit aid. But what schools r u applying to that is non-need blind? b/c sth like slippery rock state university is different from WUSTL in admissions.

ummmmmm.... so far I havent done all of these... but its Harvard, Yale, Stanford EA, Northwestern, WUSTL (which doesnt say need blind?), Georgetown, Duke, Claremont McKenna, ND, Davidson, College of William and Mary (and some state schools already applied to)?

What do you know about need blind and these.

Imiricle, are you apply for aid?

well i know harvard, yale, stanford, duke, georgetown r need blind. look up the other schools but i'm sure that WUSTL is non-need blind.

for the need blind ones seriously don't worry. it's not going to affect you.
yeh i'm applying for FA too. my schools r mostly need-blind
Harvard, Columbia(ED), MIT, Yale, Stanford, Swarthmore r all need blind.
WUSTL isn't for me and Umich-ann arbor is sort of need-blind but still has merit aid.

So then for the ones that are need blind... apply for aid? the others... probalby dont apply for aid?

well it depends on the level. WUSTL i'm applying for FA but i doubt that will make the difference. Rather i think it's more about interest. Claremont McKenna i think is like WUSTL level.

If I put I'm not applying for aid... do you think I can still do it later?
