So we've been waitlisted. Now what?

Can we send MIT updates? Do we tell all the other colleges that we're waiting for MIT's response? Do we sit in a corner and cry?

Matt will likely have a blog entry up within the next few days for waitlistees, so be on the lookout for that.

You absolutely can and should send updates and keep MIT in the loop with regard to your activities and your level of interest.

You should choose a school by the May 1 reply date and send your deposit. MIT won’t be able to decide how many waitlisted students should be admitted until a few weeks after May 1. They’ll announce on the blogs if and when they’re able to admit waitlisted students, and admitted students will get a financial aid package and some time to decide if they’d like to attend MIT instead.

You can sit in a corner and cry for a little bit, but then I expect you to jump up and go attack life with just as much zeal and zest as you always have. :)
