So... What about Tufts?

Hey guys. So the other day I was at my cousins graduation party and I was talking to this guy there who told me about his son who went to college to become an aerospace engineer. He said that he originally went to case western but didn't like it so transferred to tufts. This intrigued me as I never considered tufts as an engineering school.

Anyways, enough with the anecdote, I want to be a mechanical or electrical engineer and am wondering if I should consider tufts?

Some questions I have are how good is the engineering program? Do they have co op? Is the engineering program very competitive?

For reference and for info about if I have a decent chance of getting in, here are my stats.

3.7 uw GPA. 4.3 w.
2130 SAT ( 720 math 710 cr 700 writing)

EC.
Marching band section leader 3 years.
150 hours volunteer at rehab center and growing. 50 hours food pantry and soup kitchen.
3 years varsity bowler.
NHS. History honors society. Science honors society.
Robotics club 2 years.
CPU club 2 years.
And some other stuff I'm too lazy to write unless you want it. Thanks for info!!!!

Bump

I think the guy you described was one of my classmates. I also studied ME at Tufts and had an awesome time. The department isn’t large but there are a fair number of courses in different sub-specialties at both the grad and undergrad level, there are research opportunities for undergrads, and there are many professors who are in it at least as much for teaching and mentoring undergrads as for doing high quality research.

The school doesn’t go out of its way to let you co-op but I do know people who took a semester off to do it. Most people just take summer internships, though.
