So what's your intended major/interests?

Well...? I'm not sure what I'm going to major in. I'd like to do Arabic, but they only have a minor in that. Possibly history, econ, asian studies, etc.

I'm doing Asian Studies (Chinese) and Economics. I actually just signed up for my courses yesterday, taking both of those. Can't wait until school starts!

through an exchange: Math & CS... btw, how many courses does one usually takes? (assuming each course is about 3 hours weekly), I had applied for 4 courses, should I apply for more?

they recommend that you take 15 credits if you want to graduate in four years. But if you have credit by AP,SATII, etc, then you could take 12 credits a semester to graduate on time.

Actually, I'm just there for a year or semester... I think I'm gonna take another course. my question is more about the number of courses than the number of hours, do most stuents enroll in 5 courses? (or more)

Credits depend more than the number of classes, because there isn't a set number of classes you have to take, but you do need at least 120 credits to graduate. But since they recommend 5 courses, then that's probably what most students enroll in. Why are you only there for a year (or less)?

I am from Israel, coming as part of an exchange program between my home university and UNC. I will stay for a semester or 2... here things are way different than in the states, about 95% (or more) of the students do not live in dorms, most just come for classes and go back home, so here there is almost no "social atmosphere". I don't want to get in a situation where I'm enrolled in "too few" classes and therefore will be bored or feel a bit isolated. On the other hand I do want to have a good time and not be to busy with school work too much...

Dan, I'm taking four classes for a total of 13 credit hours. I think the amount of time spent studying will actually be more dependent on your own work ethic than on the courses themselves.
