Run cross country and spring track. We did 50-60 miles/week last year with my old XC coach, but this year my coach took it down to 30-40 miles/week. My PR is a 21:30 5k, not great. In my defense, however, I’m more of a short distance guy.

Track last year, I basically did everything. At various points in the season, I ran the 200, 400, 800, 400 hurdles, 4x100, 4x200, and the 4x800, in addition to doing long jump and triple jump. My best event was the 200, second on the team in 26.8.

And a senior on the team when I was a freshman actually did use XC to run from the cops. He was at a party that got busted, jumped a fence and took off. Back at practice the next day extolling the virtue of mile repeats.

@thsfan: Yeah, you might need a new coach. You should not be running 21:30 as a guy after 50-60 miles per week. I could understand if you were a girl (because that would be a solid, though not amazing time for a girl), but as a guy I suspect you are running your miles completely wrong.

Do you get recovery days every other day? Do you train consistently?

I get nervous before meets, which sucks, but I seriously get anxiety attacks when I know I’m not doing well. I mean I start having trouble breathing and it ****es me off. It happened once during an xc meet last year, and a couple times during practice this year.

I run cross country, but I’m slow… My time for a 5k is 20:59. It’d probably be better if I trained more. If I really tried, I bet I could get my time down to around 18:00. The allergy season was horrible for the last xc season, so it messed w/ my breathing. Not very fun.

I run, but I’ve been pretty lazy the last month or two… I’m lucky if I get in 5 days of consecutive running. I could run 4:36 in the mile and ten flat in the 3200… hopefully I’ll be able to beat those times despite my off-season laziness lol. I wasn’t very good at xc comparatively. I barely broke 17 minute for a 5k.
