Okay, I've been looking this up and can't find information on it anywhere so direct me if it's been answered already. I know that it's smart to split costs with a roommate between the fridge, t.v., and microwave. But if you both put in an equal amount of cash to buy it then who gets to keep it at the end of the year? What's the system? if there is one...

I don't start for another month but I've been casually looking at the appliances and me and my roommate already agreed on paying 50/50.

Put it up for auction just between the both of you when you move out. if neither of you want it, see if you can sell it to someone else and split that 50/50.

Have one person get the fridge and one person get the tv...easier that way because you know whose is whose and don't have to figure it out at the end of the year.

take it to the court...but honestly, yea try the auction approach or figure something out that will make it fair and beneficial for both of you.

one person buys it off the other roommate...but best way is split actual items. ONe person bring TV and maybe other person brings fridge and mocrowave or whatever...
