Trying to figure out my housing plan...I'm thinking about Unit 2 or 3 doubles but not sure.. Also how do they pair up roommates? Is it the same as what they did with freshmen (fill out survey thing and then auto match up someone similar)? Anyone else dorming? Discuss here!

I asked about how we get assigned our roomies and the coordinator told me they try to pair up people with close ages and statuses (frosh v. transfer)!

I’m dorming over summer in Unit 1 or 2. As of now, I’m a spring admit. I’ll be living in the units in the spring too.

Of course, this is assuming I go to UCB lol.

I’m trying to get into Channing Bowditch or Wada Apartments. No sardine cans please :)

I hope they pair transfers together. I don’t want to get stuck with an egotistical freshman who thinks he is better than me.

the lottery systems sucks btw. some people get wada or channingbo, true. i think theyre a ripoff high high high rent and no meal plan. plus its considered “off campus” housing so you dont get extra aid money.

they “try to” pair transfers together. i lived with two freshmen, in a triple. hated it. find real housing. find your roommates on the interweb. chances are, you’re a better roommate finder than reshall.

I’m gonna be in the dorms. I’ll do the apartment/house thing senior year.

Being an older student (25) Channing and Wada would be the only places I would really consider dorming at if I do indeed end up applying for housing. Channing seemed sort of expensive but Wada didn’t seem so bad.

Honestly, I think off campus is where it’s at, just wish there were more single room or studios available and not single rooms!

So what’s the different experience between living in the apratment vs in dorm?

With an apartment you get a kitchen and only have to share a bathroom with 3 other people instead of the floor.

The units would be the best for socializing and adjusting (although you may end up with a freshman roomie…) I really hope I get a Unit 1 double!

So which housing place is most popular?

I’m dorming there for sure! I want to fill my housing application out (I just SIRed) but I can’t figure out which dorms I want to live in!

The units in general are the most social. From what I’ve heard Unit 3 is the most “active” then Unit 1 and 2 are about the same, I put Unit 1 as my 1st choice because it was renovated and looks newer than 3 and is closer to campus than Unit 2 (which was also renovated). Though the exterior of Unit 2 does look cooler! Though Unit 3 has a cafeteria/market and is close to campus too.

so even if we don’t end up in the wada hall apartments they still will try to match us with a transfer roomate??

why is wada like 9k for a double and the units like 13k? Is it just because they consider it “off campus?”

That 13k includes like $2,500 worth of dining commons credit.
