Why do people want to become RA's? Id feel annoyed constantly having to be there for annoying, whiny, lower class men?

Why do people like to become RA's?

Free room/board?

Free room and board.

RAs at my school get free room (and a room that’s normally for 2 people but they get it all to themselves), but I’m pretty sure they still pay for a meal plan, but year, that’s why people want to.

O, I guess they’d be saving some money

It can also look really good on a resume, and let’s face it, graduates have fairly limited work experience, so a position of leadership and responsibility managing others that relatively few are hired for looks much better than shuffling papers or retail work.

Yep, free room and board, and good on a resume. That’s about it. I’ve met some RAs that seem to be really into their jobs though, so maybe some people do enjoy helping out the freshmen. I would really hate it, lol.

Someone answer me this: why do three times as many people apply to be RA’s as there are actual positions available at Grinnell, a college that DOESN’T give any financial incentive for it?

Probably for a resume boost… and do they get their own room? That might be the reason behind it.
