Regarding the SOAR orientation in which you get advising and class registrations, etc, is it possible to attend a date of a different major ALSO, since I’m thinking about another major or minor. Right now I’m in for math, but am thinking about economics, or majoring in one and minoring in the other. Would I be able to attend the date for math AND the date for economics and get advising on both?

Also, does anyone know how you can register for it. The SOAR website says register at your cal poly portal, but the cal poly portal says ot register on the SOAR website, and the SOAR website says registration starts late May.

Thanks guys.

i went on a few days ago n it said it was full!!!
n they didnt even send me any information about it before so i didnt know what to do

yeah me too. they never sent me anything. i would go on it earlier and there was no where to sign up. did anybody sign up?

It's not full...th esite said the sign ups have bene delayed and won't be offered 'till end of June.

It is available for me on the portal right now!
And it gives you a choice of any available dates. Mine only had one date though.

uh..i guess they changed it. it must've been a glitch or something because it said it was full. i saw it with my own eyes. lol

I think was a bug while they were getting it set up. By the way, where did it say it full? On the site?

It's not full, I just signed up :).

it said it was full where the sign up thing is now, but everything's good now. i'm going to sign up.

So what day are you guys going? I'll be there on the 12th.

Ill be there the 20th.

Btw, are parents' attendance mandatory?

i'm going on the 18th. i don't think parents have to be there. i told them they don't have to go, but they want to.

Wait..what the hell. Is SOAR optional? I thought that was mandatory to sign up for classes and taking the MAPE exam, but my friend just told me otherwise.

yeah i think SOAR is optional. i signed up because i probably don't have a clue what i'm picking. the MAPE exam is for certain kids, not all...that's what it says on the site.

Well then...I'll just go to take the MAPE and then enjoy the rest of my day in San Luis Obispo. :) I'll probably get advising on classes too, so I have a general idea of what the heck I'll be taking...also our student ID pics are taken @ SOAR. Well, it'd seem like I'm missing out on a lot if I don't go to SOAR...guess I better go then. Thanks for the quick response.

yeah no problem. better to go instead of finding out that you missed something important. haha you're the only one keeping the cal poly forum alive. yay for you. lol

Probably because I'm the only one worrying about nothing. If we don't sign up for classes @ SOAR, when do we do it?

Registration begins July 30

what the hell? why are they charging me 75 bucks for a SOAR scholarship? it says it on my portal. this better be an error because i did not buy a scholarship.

The $75 is to attend the SOAR program. From their website:

Student Reservation:
Includes an academic portfolio, a 2007-09 Cal Poly catalog, parking permit for the day and one lunch ticket. $75

Parent Orientation Reservation:
Includes one set of materials and one lunch ticket. $40

Guest Lunch Tickets: $11 per person
