This might sound stupid but I was just thinking over my interests these past few weeks to decide what I want to do with my life. I'm only a high school senior and I know I might be thinking ahead of myself, but I was just wondering what I could do with soccer as a career. People have been telling me to choose something that I'm PASSIONATE about and honestly this sport is what I'm very passionate about.

But by no means do I want to pursue a career as a player, but I am out of ideas on any other career other than being a player or manager (neither of which i want). So my question is, what can I do to pursue my passion in soccer as a career other than being a manager of some sort or a player?

well if your really serious abt soccer as a career and u dont wanna be a player den the only options i am aware of are

personal manager- join a company where you manage players careers...what you would be doing is taking care of everything else and leaving the player 2 only think abt his/her game...u manage advertisements, traveling, salary and the like.

sports medicine- only if u wanna becum a doctor

event management with a company that specialises in sports events

commentator

statistician and video analyst- a big part of professional sports nowadays. work with the team and the players to analyze their game, keep video records of the players, keep statistics about the games played.

i think sports marketing is your best bet. you would get to spend your time showing people how great soccer is and getting them to come to the games..then you can go to the games yourself.

I don't know if you were only talking about professional soccer, but over the 9 years I was doing youth premier club soccer, some of those coaches make pretty good money. If you can get a coaching job at an elite youth club, you can make $10,000 to $15,000 per team (with many coaches having 2-3 teams).

My coach (who was like 27) coached two teams and then had a part time job at some company that he would work at for a few days a week. So all told, he probably made $50,000 a year. Not bad if it's something you really love.

High level refs (grades 1-3) make a good amount a game, grade 8 can make $80 for 1 game of youth soccer, I was 14 yrs. old making $500 in a weekend when I reffed a lot. Imagine what the guys who do it as a career make in a game, but it takes a lot of time to get up that high.
