Social Atmosphere

my friend at Harvard tells me she doesnt like it there…

“basically, off and on i have felt really disillusioned with school… the people here are crazy first of all… i mean, people generally come from money and a lot of them don’t know what to do with themselves when they get around poor people (cause they’ve never known any before) or minorities. spoiled, bourgeoisie people. everyone is too busy to make time to have friends and have relationships. see i think i was just shocked… like i knew people were different than at home, but i had never gone to an affirmative action debate and had rich white guys tell me to my face, i’m being persecuted because you didnt do your f.ucking hw. like, i think i’m just starting to adjust… for like 30 seconds before i was thinking about leaving… about how it doesn’t matter if have a harvard degree because i cant stand to learn stuff that’s not important and be around sheltered stupid people who think the sun rises and sets on them”

“racist not as much. most white people are scared of me… derogatory just from the way rich girls talk to people in general…i’ve had to tell someone not to snap at me… and sexist like hell, cause most of the guys here went to expensive all boys boarding schools and have never had to talk to a girl for anything except play… and so definitely don’t know how to deal with a girl with an opinion and especially with a brain. they have intellectual conversations with dudes and then turn around (this happened literally) and try to tickle me and flirt with me. ive had to stop talking to a lot of guys cause of that”

....and that is one person's story.

Intersting how your friend is at Harvard, yet she can neither explain herself properly, nor spell correctly.

So many other people love it there, so I wouldn't worry about one person's testimony. Harvard is 40% minorities; there should be plenty of people with whom you can identify. Yet, college is supposed to prepare you for the real world, and that discriminatory attitude is something you'll most likely experience once you leave college. Better to deal with it now so you know how to handle any situation.

"INTERSTING how your friend is at Harvard, yet she can neither explain herself properly, nor spell correctly."

I always have a good laugh when people who criticize other posters (who actually haven't spelled a single word wrong) spell things incorrectly themselves

I'm not the one who wrote a 2 paragraph disjointed, jarred, utterly pointless monologue that tries to take a stab at Harvard's social life without properly explaining itself.
