What is the social life like at Temple? Im like 99.9999% sure that i want to go, but i hear that the social life isnt the best. I've also heard alot about it being dangerous, but ive also heard that the danger is really over exaggerated. Are these things true?

Social life at Temple is supposed to be fantastic. If you got in, definitely go to Experience Temple Day, it will get rid of any concerns you have. Everyone was so friendly and happy there (my friends who are attending also love it). On campus, safety is not supposed to be a problem. In case you’re interested, here’s the link to the annual statistics for the whole school:

Just remember, it is in the city so you have to use your common sense (i.e. don’t walk off-campus at night alone with headphones on). There’s also police everywhere just in case.

I’m thinking about going to Temple, my sister went there and I think one of the big drawbacks about social life is the segregation. Asians tend to hang out with only Asians, whites with whites, etc…

Also, I heard off campus social life is pretty terrible.

However, sports are available and school spirit is growing. Plus you also have the option of experiencing the city instead of just partying or going to games.

Hey, I really haven’t been on Temple’s Campus, but I’m from the local area and will probably be at Temple next year. The campus has nice safety and is pretty well protected, but you need to smart and understand that you shouldn’t be walking on non-major roads by yourself at 2am in Philly. Social Life, Philly actually has more than what everyone thinks. I used to never go to the city and thus thought it sucked, but I know I actually love it. Great food and social life places is the Rittenhouse Square Section. This is the wealthier neighborhoods of Philly. You will find the finest restaurants, clubs, and hangout sports here. Eat a burger from internationally recognized Shake Shack or 500. Or you can get the #1 ranked Ice Cream in the US by national Geographic at Capigiros. There are so many cultures in Philly that makes it nice. Check out Brazillian Places in NE, Italian in South, and etc. Let me know if you have questions

As someone who just visited Temple (I’m a junior in high school), has a sister currently enrolled, and is highly considering attending, I hate the bad rep Temple gets for being “unsafe”. Temple U isn’t in a white suburbia gated-community. It’s in a city. You can’t compare the safety to a school in the middle of Ohio. Temple is just as “dangerous” as NYU, Georgetown, or any other school in a large city. Don’t NOT choose temple because you’re afraid you’ll get shanked by a hobo on the way to your Econ class. It’s simply not true!!

Well, it’s probably more dangerous than NYU due to surrounding neighborhoods of both. what I’ve heard is on Temple campus is fine, be careful and use common sense off campus. It’s adjacent to some very dangerous neigborhoods which is why it has an extensive police force. People say if you use common sense, you’re generally ok.
