Social Life at Georgetown...

I am currently trying to decide between Georgetown, Emory and the University of Texas at Austin. Although Georgetown has bigger clout than Emory, I am concerned about the social life at Georgetown. I have read reviews about the snooty, arrogant nature of both the students and the teachers. Is this just an overblown perspective or does it actually hold some weight? Does Georgetown offer many clubs (I am looking for a film society and some other fun extra currics)? How are the dorms and the campus?

Every school is going to have it's reputation. gtown, just happens to have a preppy snooty one, it is absolutely NOT TRUE!!!! There are so many things to do, people here are fun, great and inclusive. I ahve yet to meet somebody that treats me condescendingly or badly in anyway. ABout ECs, don't even get me started, we have sooo many you won't know what to do the day after the extra-curricular fair (SAC fair), and you have an e-mail from everyone you signed up at. THe best part is taht you can do as many ECs as you want, or can fit in your schedule, because you can be as involved as you want. There are some film societies though I am not extremely familiar with them (they're not my thing), as far as fun is considered, you can do anything from A Capella to College Democrats to European Club (even if you're not European) to Mask and Bauble (Dramatic Society). There is so much to do. About the dorms, check out the thread "questions about housing" and it'll answer most of your qs.

hoyadan, I agree with almost everything you said, but I'd like to clear somthing up...preppy and snooty are not synonymous. A lot of students at Georgetown are preppy, but that doesn't mean they're obnoxious or arrogant (and they aren't).

But yeah, the people at Georgetown are great, you won't find a better group of kids at any college in the country in my opinion.

I apologize, that's not what I was implying.
