What do freshman and sophomores do on weekends?
- Mostly drink either at parties off campus (frat houses, etc) or in the bars in Coconut Grove. There are a number of campus activities plus obviously football/basketball games.
Go into Miami?
- South (Miami) Beach is probably more popular than doing things downtown, but from my perspective (as a parent) I have found some interesting parts of downtown Miami to explore.
Stay on campus? Does the campus basically clear out on weekends?
- A large percentage of the students are from the Northeast and Midwest so are around on weekends, so it is definitely no longer a commuter school. Many of the students are from high income families so do head home or elsewhere (FL Keys, Caribbean, etc) during October break, spring break, etc.
What do freshman and sophomores do on weekends?
- There’s tons of activities on campus from intramural sports to community outreach events. Of course you will have the occasional off campus parties or you can do the bar hop. During football season, the football games are a must.
Go into Miami?
- Most definitely! There’s tons to do in Miami Dade County. The more obvious places to go hangout at are South Beach, Coconut Grove, Downtown Miami but you might want to also check out Wynwood. If you’re willing to travel just hop on 95 north and you will be in Fort Lauderdale in about 30 mins (depending the traffic) or you can head south to the Keys.

- Campus tends to stay full on the weekends especially in the mornings and afternoons. Again a lot of activities happen on campus.
