hey everyone!
i am a ccc student right now planning to transfer to UCSB, UCD, or Cal i was just wondering how the social life is for a transfer student. im leaning more on UCSB so any UCSB transfers who wanna share their experience would be cool =] just dont wanna get there and be a loner since its so far from where i live (santa cruz). Im planning on being a chem major so any imput on what classes you took before you got to ucsb would help...

I was at UCSB for Halloween this year.

Go to UCSB.

I am a transfer student. It is hard living as someone who is new to the campus. Everyone knows each other and it’s like being adopted. They have a close knit group and everyone and everyone knows everyone else name. Occasionally in lecture the professor have parties and hold meals at his place of residence. Transfers are not allowed to attend.

The GSI’s are like big brothers and sisters to all the students who arn’t transfers. They fight ans play like all siblings do and occationally they yell at students about how they were embarrased them in front of “Jake” yesterday.

Transfers are seen like the Greasers in the book The Outsiders most 4-year students don’t respect us and when they see us walking to class they spit and yell obscenities at us. About once a month they make us dig holes near Sather Tower so we might find the lost treasure of Walter Haas.

Transfer beatings are common and encouraged, in fact it is looked down upon if a student does not send 1 transfer to the hospital each year.

The food they give is not good. I haven’t had a proper meal the entire semester and when a nice 4-year student tried to give me her leftovers, they sent her to UC Riverside (she was never seen or heard from again).

I wish you the best of luck because transfer students are treated like dirt at every UC. No one wants to be associated with junior transfers…not even junior transfers.

hahahahahahahahaahahahaha lololololol hahahahahahaha

this persons obviously looking for a serious answer. stop trying to be funny and get a life.

The most important thing to realize is that at any college you transfer to, the social life is what you make of it. I know people to are antisocial and because of it, they hate UCLA. other people are extremely social and love being at UCSD, UCR, UCSC or wherever. you cant say that your social life depends on which college you go to.

HAHAHAHAHA :D

that made me day

oops-“my” day

at first i was like “What kind of a place is this!!” then it dawned on me…

shut up ya pansy guitarfreak, that post was hilarious.

Its people like you arcadefire and anonymous who make this website so damn useless.

lol you’re actually mad

it makes me happy that you are so lame

i got one:

When your mom took away your game boy did she also take away your sense of humor?

:D:D

lol im not mad
Its just when youre posting a thread, you want some info. not a joke.

oh, did you post this thread?

and this person isn’t looking for some information, they’re looking for “what the social scene’s like”. She can’t get an answer to that question until she experiences it first hand.

and by putting “lol” infront of “im not mad” doesn’t make me think that you’re any less irritated than when you posted “Its people like you arcadefire and anonymous who make this website so damn useless.”

(asian accent)

“you funny…you funny because you mad”

why would I be mad? I dont know you and I dont care about you. And you arent even irritating.

why thank you.

you on the other hand are overly sensitive about what people choose to post.

yeah guitarfreak, you’re coming across as a whiny little ________. Fill in the blank!

anon’s post, although not “serious”, certainly got the point out. After reading his sarcasm it makes you wonder why you had the stupid thought in the first place. (One point of using sarcasm in my opinion)

I think posts like his are actually more memorable than someone just stating the usual “transfers fit in fine.”

HAHAHA! That post was epic, at first I was like “This guy must be the biggest loser!” but as the post went on it got more and more ridiculous until it turned into the book Holes. HAHAH CLASSIC My friend!!!

@ The OP, If you’re going to UCSB don’t worry about it I have a few friends up there and when I visit I feel like a 5th year it’s so d.amn social. Other than that I can only speak for UCLA as that is where I transferred to and I gotta say the whole “You are left out because you weren’t around the first two years” is WAY OVERHYPED! Within the first couple weeks I already had the numbers of like 10 new friends and was eating every meal with a group of students. Its super social, no one (outside the occasional stuck up b.itch, you know the one that’s p.issed she isn’t really all that intelligent and worked her as.s off like 14 hours a day in high school to get into UCLA) even cares that you are a transfer. Honestly don’t buy into the hype, there’s 30,000 students, you will find a group of friends if you are semi-social.

lol thanks everyone…when i started reading that one post my smile totally dropped, i got scared for a second but then got it =]

do you guys think ucsb is a bad school if i wanna be a vet???
im really determined i just feel pressured to go to davis since they admit more of their students to their vet program than from other schools…

ucsb is not bad if you want to be a vet, but I can see why Davis is a better option as they have an amazing vet program…not trying to pressure you or anything but Davis has the program that is perfect for the line of work you want to go into
