Haha I know what some people are going to say. Yah, it is what you make out of your college life that matters. but just wondering, how is the social scene in Cornell, do people generally hang out with others of their own race, do people date, what if I can get a roommate who is really open and decides to make out with her bf in front of me? I know I am worrying too much, but it would be great if someone can give me a general idea of how life is at Cornell besides the academic part.

Sadly enough, most people of the same races to hang out. I really don't want to hear anything from anyone else about that because it's quite true, for about 80% of the people here.

A lot of people date, but mostly there are a lot of hook-ups at parties and such. Ummm...do you want a roommate to make out with her bf in front of you? your question is sort of ambiguous.

In general freshmen who want to party go to frats on thursday, friday, or saturday night. There are many other activities as well, you jsut sort of have to take the initiative to find those things out. You can go ice skating most weekends. there are always music concerts. Bob Saget came in November. Lupe Fiasco came a few weeks ago. The a cappella groups are really popular and they always sell out. The Cornell orchestra is really good, so is the Chorale. A famous musician is always coming to perform. Simon Perez came to talk a few weeks ago as well.

I'm a freshman so I can't really tell you what upperclassmen do, but it seems like they tend to hang out on Collegetown a lot more.

Definately not the making out part~ I want some privacy~ haha with regards to the racial issue, i think it is kinda sad. Yeah, Cornell should be championed for diversity.. at least that's part of its greatness. But I do hope that the social system is not that rigid.

Also, do people date with people of their own age, meaning freshmen with freshmen and such or something else? I know, I sound kinda desperate, but really just curious and trying to figure out if what those college movies depict are actually true or not

heh, there are quite a few people dating within their own ages. But from what I've found a lot of the freshmen girls seem to get going out with older guys, most likely because they're more mature. I dunno, relationships seem to come out of nowhere sometimes, so anything is possible.

Yeah u have got a point here, girls desire mature guys, though not necessarily younger in age. But that's how our society works.
