Social life - Northwestern v. U Penn?

Well, it's said that U Penn is the "social" Ivy and Northwestern is just a fun school with parties and all that stuff going down all the time, so I was wondering, which do you guys think has a better social life between the two?

Northwestern.

College town feel with a very close proximity to Chicago, excellent public transportation, lots of great restaurants and shopping right near campus, an active (but not overpowering or elistist) Greek scene, lots of dorm parties, and tons of great nightlife (as well as cultural and recreational opportunities) in downtown Chicago.

Chicago really does have the most to offer of any city I've ever been to.

Yea, NU is betta in my opinion.......

Penn b/c philly is a college town

That pretty much sums it up....

I'm from LA,

but I have to say Chicago is simply amazing. It really has so much to offer during the day or night that it's pretty mindblowing. And it's beautiful. Ah I'm in love with Chicago.

Penn is a better school.

Only people who have intimate experience with both Penn and Northwestern could comment on this issue in any remotely authoritative manner. I am not one of those people, so I will simply say it again: Penn is a better school.

I've been researching Philly cos I may relocate there. But from what I've found so far, Chicago seems to have a lot more to offer. I am hoping the gap between Philly and Chicago isn't big and I will try to find that out in 2 weeks when I visit. I have read that many areas in Philly are pretty unsafe. This is something I am a little concerned about.

The question is which school has a better social life.

Unless you mean Penn has a better social life, don't turn it into something it's not Johnny.

I'd say Northwestern. Penn guys have admitted to drinking Smirnoff.

It really does. Chicago and Philadelphia are two totally different kinds of cities . Chicago is much more a global/high-class city than Philadelphia. Thats not to say that a person who isn't from the area couldn't enjoy college life there for a few years. There are many bars/clubs/ etc where students can have fun, in addition to many different cultural/intellectual attractions.

"I have read that many areas in Philly are pretty unsafe. This is something I am a little concerned about."

Many areas of all cities are unsafe. That said, I live in Philly and, honestly, the only parts of the city that are "unsafe" are the parts where many respectable college grads just never go. Honestly, I feel less safe walking around Evanston at night than most parts of Philadelphia.

definitely Northwestern!!

I visited both last year, and I was shocked at UPenn's surroundings -.-;;;
..dirty, unsafe, nothing to do much....

If you can...Go and Feel with your own heart!! then.... you must know...

Northwestern!!!!!!!!

I heard though Penn is one of the more social of the Ivies...

Says who? Rankings?

They're both top-tier schools. Both offer a suburb education.

I, for one, am looking for a more rural education myself...
