hi
im not sure if any of you will know this, but since northeastern has the coop program, is it difficult to maintain friendships throughout the five years? are most of the coops centered in boston so that its possible to still live on campus?

You can still live on campus for Boston-based co-ops, but many are outside Boston which is why NU can fit so many people into the school eve though they don’t all fit on campus.

I don’t know about the friendships part. I think it’s a lot easier now with social networking, but I’m a parent, not a student, so my opinion doesn’t mean much in that area.

A lot of students do co-ops in Boston, and most students are still living on-campus/off-campus with NU roommates. But, it’s pretty common for people to do at least one co-op in another place, or to study abroad. You get used to having a friend or two every semester that isn’t in Boston, but it really won’t affect your social life too much.

Social life while on co-op is pretty much EXACTLY the same as while in classes… if not a little better. On co-op, you go to work in the morning and then around 5 you’re done, and you can go home and do whatever you want. Same with the weekends–rather than being busy with studying, you have only free time. Especially during finals (right now!) my friends are all sleep-deprived, stressed wrecks right now, while I’m on co-op and enjoying spending my free time doing whatever.

As far as maintaining freindships, co-op doesn’t really effect that. You’re still going to hang out with friends while on co-op, since like I said, your social life stays essentially the same. Sure, a friend or two might be gone for a semester, but that happens at “normal” schools when people study abroad.

This is hilarious!:
