I’m taking a year abroad at Davis next year, and am starting to think about accommodation.</p>
<p>Basically, I was wondering how big a part dorms play in getting to know people at Davis? I’m 22 and have been living away from home for a few years, so the idea of having security around, not being able to have a beer or glass of wine with dinner etc. is pretty unappealing. So, I was thinking of getting an apartment (or a room in one).</p>
<p>But, obviously, I don’t know anyone at Davis, and I don’t want to restrict my social options. I’m a pretty sociable person, and wouldn’t want to just be hanging around in my apartment on my own all day while everyone else socialises in the residence halls.</p>
<p>Any thoughts?</p>
