social life/ party scene

i know this has already been asked before but i thought it was not sufficiently answered... I do care about my studies very much, and i will certainly work hard when it is required, but i also do want to have fun on the weekends, or off-days. what is the party scene like? is there always a party to be found on the weekends? and are frats a big part of campus life?

i think i share the same sentiment with parahx.....im not a huge partier and school work is important to me, but i do enjoy going out on weekends/off days and hanging out with people.

maybe in addition to the questions parahx asks....what do Jumbos do for fun?

Sure there are people to hang out with!

in the last year there has been a pretty signficant push by the student body and a decent response by the administration to better student life on campus...as for partying, frat houses and house parties are pretty much the norm, freshmen, sophomores and friends of the frats are mainly seen there while upperclassmen generally are found at house parties. bar night on tuesday is pretty popular too and they have dance parties in hotung cafe...
its no university of colorado at boulder but its not bad

If you make the right friends as a freshman you go to house parties instead of frats. Yay! If you want parties, they're there.

Biggest party nights are Thurs & Sat and I echo what Topher said

Ugh, I hate that Thursday is a party night because I have a Friday morning class. It's not that I can't go out, it's that I live in a freshman dorm where my hallmates just can't resist waking me up at all hours of the night with their loud reveling when I'm trying to get some sleep so I don't fall asleep in the middle of math. Sorry, I'm just a little bitter about this.

Social life at Tufts varies from year to year.

Freshman year = stick to on-campus parties (frats, co-ops, etc), pre-game in dorm rooms
Sophomore year = more of the same plus more house parties as you become friends with upperclassmen who live off-campus
Junior year = if you're not abroad, you're turning 21, moving out to Boston bars and more of the like. House parties still strong.
Senior year = Bars, house parties, pub nights.
