What do people do for fun?
That’s a pretty vague and open question. There are people doing pretty much everything. Most of the way people get to know their friends is through the dorm, their major, or clubs. Clubs cover everything from board games to band to outdoor club to intramural and club sports, so if you get involved, you’ll find your group of friends somewhere. Most of the partying-type social life happens through groups of friends from clubs, and parties are usually smaller-scale house parties, not the stereotypical frat parties of movies/TV. There’s also a ton of stuff to do in the city of Boston - discounted symphony tickets, clubs, sports, volunteering, etc; it’s a huge college town (250,000 college students in the Boston area).
Nano covered it
What do I do personally? The Copley square area is great for food/seeing pretty things/shopping.
I’ll also go to New York for fun. It’s not that far.
The symphony is fun
Lots of plays and such on campus
I’m personally biased to the Fenway area - lots of amazing food over there. Same with Newbury, though that’s expensive, but there’s a few cheap places for students there.
Meanwhile I spent 5 years in Boston and never made it to new york…
What do approx 18,000 smart people between the ages of 18-23 living in a major US city do for fun? An easier question might be what don’t they do.
I think you’ve been covered but I’ll tell you what I do.
There are nights where I’ll definitely just wander around Boston with friends, and just take everything in – it’s Boston after all!
Clubs are really the best way to have fun on campus; the musical theater group is pretty large and strongly established.
It’s a big school, too; so whether you want to party every weekend, or play smash bros in the dorm, you will be able to find people who want to do either or both of those things, and everything in between.
We get free admission to the MFA, which is pretty awesome if you just want to drop in for an hour on a stressful day.
Good luck!
Just to add that the Museum of Fine Arts is virtually on campus. Symphony Hall is a block away. the Berklee Performance Center is 3 blocks away. Different strokes for different folks.
Thank you so much!
