I fell in love with NU when I visited last summer. I know that all schools have a party scene, but I was wondering if it's really big at NU?

I'm really "calm", so to speak, and I don't like to party. My religion doesn't really allow me to party either. I'd also like to keep my college experience more towards the academic side of things.

Considering the school is in Boston, there are tons of things to do for fun. (Keep in mind my idea of fun is like, going to a museum. Or the movies)

Am I going to end up doing all these things by myself? Or will I be able to find at least a small group of people who share the same party/college views as myself?

It’s not a typically notorious party place, mainly because of what you stated. There are just tons of other things to do in the heart of Boston that you don’t need to party it up all the time like you’re in the middle of nowhere (Penn State).

If you want to party, you can find plenty of parties.

If you don’t want to party, there’s plenty else to do. I am not a partier at all. There’s a lot on campus - improv groups, a Capella performances, sports games, events by the res halls. And you’re right, there’s also the MFA right next to campus, a number of movie theaters nearby.

And there are plenty of other people who aren’t into partying! I have a really great group of friends who have the same views on it as me, and we’ll spend a Friday night baking cookies and watching a movie.

Basically, I wouldn’t be concerned about it at all. Northeastern is a big school. You’ll find people you’ll have fun hanging out with doing things that don’t involve getting pointlessly wasted.
