Social life

hey everyone, well I was accepted at Amherst, and went to visit it last week. I loved the campus, and really enjoyed the class that I observed. Right now, I am deciding between Amherst and Boston College. I know that academically, Amherst wins hands down. However, I am very much attracted to Boston College’s large student body, and seemingly broader social scene. I am a smart girl, but to be honest, I don’t like sitting around talking about school, or politics. I am more of the kind of person who will talk about what I did last weekend, the fantastic skirt I got on sale, or sports. Most people who know me say that if they didn’t know what classes I take or didn’t know my class rank, they would never think that I was as smart as I am. Now I know that Amherst college is much better for my future, and my primary concern should be on academics, but I’m afraid that I will be out of place in the Amherst student body. Also, I was wondering what it is that most Amherst students do on the weekends and such. I want to make sure that the place where I will receive an education for the next four years is one that I will be happy at…any help would be greatly appreciated…decision day is wayyyyy too soon!

I wouldn't worry. there are a lot of closet-Reese Witherspoons at Amherst.jk

haha...It's funny you say that, because my dad keeps telling me I'll be the legally blonde of Amherst College

You'll fit in just fine. We talk about and do plenty of things besides academics. If you want to talk about your social life, clothes, or sports, you will not be alone.

that makes me feel a lot better. A lot of people told me that I would be bored there, or wouldn't be able to fit in or make friends, and when considering where to spend the next four years of my life, I would obviously want a place where I'll fit in. The academic excellence is something about Amherst that I found highly attractive, so I'm glad to know that I will be able to have fun too.

Yeah, you won't have any problem here.
