My high schooler will be taking a calculus class in high school that is eligible for college credit through Molloy College. Molloy is asking for the social security number ialong with $250 in the application. Molloy says the number is used so the credit can transfer and carry into the college my child attends in the future. I hate divulging my kids’ SS numbers. does it sound right that Molloy asks for it?
Yes, I’m pretty sure it does. Colleges will need your social security number. When I was a kid, it was my student ID number.
And your child’s future college will absolutely need it to keep track of any financial aid.
I’m pretty sure this is Standard Operating Procedure.
You can try calling various admissions at colleges to find out if they need it but it seems routiine.
