what do you guys think of the social studies concentration at harvard?
i reckon the program looks really interesting, but was wondering what others thought?
i've heard that although it's an amazing concentration, it's not given the recognition it deserves because of its name, "social studies"

Its an incredibly intensive major. Someone I know did it and he said he had an average of 30 hours of reading per week, not including all the papers and other things assigned. He also said he loved it.

IMHO it's one of the best programs offered. You do work hard but virtually everyone who does it loves it. There's a lot of freedom to take it in interdisciplinary directions that interest you (economic focus, philosophy focus, etc.). I had one SS classmate who wrote his thesis on malls and how they change society.
