Socially Awkward and Nerdy Guys

Geeks and dorks aren’t necessarily smart either.

Does anyone else find guys that are socially awkward and nerdy, the cutest things ever? Aren’t they so endearing when you talk to them and they can’t look you straight in the eye? And then ignore you in lieu of trying to solve some IMO problem? And then you ask them what they’re thinking about, and then after a while they start talking in this really fast, adorable voice about some strange inequality they used to prove it. Maybe even interject some nerdy math jokes, that are kind of lame yet hilarious. And then you just stare at them in admiration. Gahh they’re so cute!

DAMN! I fit into this description really well. SCREW THIS!!!

When you gals say “cute,” do you mean baby cute or guy cute? I always have trouble telling whether cute in this context means it makes a guy more dateable or more puppy-like

^I actually was thinking of the same thing!
i wanna know. But from context, i would have to say “baby cute” because one poster said that nerds were “adorable.”

i think its guy cute. I love shy nerdy guys who really have a fun quirky personality underneath. Just not when they actually end up being all emo. :/

I think it can be both, but a lot of nerds are guy cute too. :)

@Luminouzz: HELL yes I do!! :)

for sure some can be guy cute ;)

Well this is a new perspective…

Um, who doesn’t love Michael Cera, Zach Braff, John Krasinski (in Away We Go), Jordan Gordon Levitt (500 Days of Summer), etcetc?

Hsl . . .

Hmmm. I do kind of fit that description, except that I’m not particularly awkward around girls, just people in general, and my awkwardness is more subtle. I also don’t really spend my time doing IMO problems - I prefer post-structuralism and evo-devo and stuff like that.

Basically, I am a standard nerd. We come a dime a dozen these days.

You dudes better take this whole discussion with a grain of salt considering this is CC and not the real world. ;)

I think it depends on the person for me. I don’t really think Michael Cera is cute in his movies at all (actually, he gets on my nerves in anything other that Arrested Development, but I think that’s because he plays the same person in every movie). I guess because I’m kind of shy, I like more outgoing, confident guys since they usually get me to open up more. Think Charlie Bartlett or something, haha.

As far as nerdiness, I tend to go for guys who are into history, English, or music. Everyone I’ve ever had a crush on has been REALLY into one of those three.

^^ Good point…

I know EXACTLY what you mean- theres this gorgeous socially awkward nerd in my class. I practically stalked him because he was exactly what you described. Anyway I gave up on him because he was probably the most confusing person ever.

that and im just as nerdy soo wed probably have the most awkward babies ever.

haha i totally agree with you guys. I know this socially awkward and nerdy guy in my school ( i wouldn’t say he’s socially awkward…but he’s quiet i guess) and he’s absolutely handsome. pretty ironic right? but i guess he just lacks social skills. I tried starting conversations with him but he’s really quiet. hopeless on him lol.

Please don’t tell me that they talk pretentiously too. Those kinds of nerds are the worst, I always feel like they’re either seking attention or attempting to fit in with their “niche.”

Haha well said.

I always try talking to nerdy boys, but I think they get intimated. They have fear in their eyes, and I swear to god, I think I saw some of them shiver…

Girls, do you really take the initiative to talk to cute boys, or are you intimidated and stay quiet?
