Socially Awkward and Nerdy Guys

Ah, yes, the one about the radio psychiatrist.

yes that one, with his intellectual tendencies and brother, his ex-cop father, and british maid, who engage in many hilarious antics in this new comedy spin off of Cheers

Well, I didn’t think Frasier was sexy, but Daphne wasn’t bad :p

Haha I have a thing for awkward guys…maybe because I’m really awkward too :)

@QuantumArbiter, I probably wouldn’t take initiative to talk to a cute guy- but if I could tell they were awkward just by looking at them/get a really good vibe that they’re nice, I wouldn’t feel as intimidated and I might :P

^Lol, that might be true. Maybe I like them, because I’m terribly awkward as well. haha.

Occasionally. Diane was hawt.

LOLOL I’m like Light Yagami…he’s taught me two things:

 1. Looks and money matter…intelligence too.
 2. Treat girls as if you don’t care…they’ll like hard to get and guys who are somewhat “toolish.” Nice guys always finish last.

LOL are you serious? Why do you feel awkward? And…what’s an awkward guy? I don’t think I’ve met many awkward people :[

^WHAT?! Noooo! Sweet guys, nice guys, always finish first- and stay in our hearts the longest. Don’t listen to Light Yagami, haha.

I sincerely hope you never get that nerdy and cute girl you desire. She’ll know/want better than that.

That’s a huge misconception. The idea that girls dig “bad boys”.

I think the main allure is that the girl wants to break down the guy’s tough outer shell and reveal the sweet/nice guy underneath that he would never dare show anyone else. However, this only works in movies/books.

In real life you just come off as a jerk. Maybe you’d be a good hook up to laugh/diss about later with friends. If you were good looking and had your fly down.

Otherwise you’re just a tool who won’t get in a real relationship with that nerdy/cute girl you’re looking for.

^Wait wait wait…
-_-
Seriously?!? Sooo girls don’t like toolish boys? Sooo…Jacob Black over Edward Cullen?
XD

^ahahahaha thats a great comparison.

Where’ve you been boy?

Jacob > Edward

Keep up with Twilight gossip. Gosh.

Twilight -_- Just no.

^Why? Cuz there’re no nerdy and socially awkward guys there ;)

Haha, there are a lot of guys who are bio nerds and who are really into evo-devo stuff (well also, the male to female ratio increases as mathematical sophistication increases, so it’s quite even in theoretical genetics+ev. bio). It’s just that a lot of them are Dawkins fanboys (and/or transhumanists) who hang out at places like richarddawkins.net and imminst.org. :stuck_out_tongue: (which could be a good or bad thing, depending on interpretation. the guys who hang out at those sites are probably a lot more socially awkward+nerdy than most). But I’m seeing that biology is becoming the new “hot” field (even the physicists know it, since true theoretical physics has somewhat stagnated), and so a lot of guys from more technical fields are going into it.

haha =)

Hey, I’m interested in your research too (both of you). I’m not just a biology nerd (well I’m a combined planetary science + demographics + evolutionary biology nerd) but I read a lot of that stuff for fun. Evolutionary biology+genetics are among the most intensely mathematical+abstract fields of biology though, so a lot of the papers are really hard to read (and so it’s much harder to recreationally read those papers than it is to recreationally read papers in animal behavior/animal intelligence).

fairy_dreams: I sort of agree. I’m forgetting the articles I read about this stuff, but I’m pretty sure that girls don’t like guys who act like *******s. As in, those guys are attractive for a short-term relationship but they really want nice guys for a long-term relationship. I certainly feel that way. But while we’re still this young it’s probably better for a guy to be a jerk.

I never watched Cheers :(

@meadow: I’m a pretty easy going guy, so it takes a lot to offend me. But yes, it’s annoying when girls play the “let’s see if I can make the geek squirm” game. If she really cares it’s even worse, since I don’t want to hurt her feelings… But really, I don’t care about most of the things she’s saying, even if I care about her. But I think I ought to care… And so it’s awkward and I wish I was somewhere else, even though I’m kind of happy that she’s talking to me. It’s tough being a geek. :P

<lolwut. cursing=“” and=“” giggling=“” sounds=“” like=“” a=“” peculiar=“” combo=“” lolz.=“” but=“” erm,=“” strange=“” girlfriend=“” marriage=“” mentality.=“” just=“” upset=“” you=“” can’t=“” get=“” any?=“”> I had 4 girls tell me they like me in high school, and I got f-ing annoyed dude. I cursed one of them out. Maybe when I’m older this girlfriend thing’ll kick in and I would finally want one, but not now. I like freedom, bro. </lolwut.>

The only way I can prove the “can’t get any” accusation wrong is to become super successful, which is what I’m going to do. No idea in which field though LOL!
