Sociology 150A waitlist size?!

Hello!

So I'm on the waitlist for Soc 150A despite there having been seats available during my phase 2 because they didn't let non-soc majors enroll in the class. That was a couple months ago. Now, schedule.berkeley says

This section is full, and 216 student(s) are on the waiting list, with a limit of 500.

This Waiting List will be processed manually by the department.

Can anyone comment on the likelihood that I'll get into the course? I have senior standing, if that helps. And I am around #51 or so on the waitlist -- which is manual anyway. Since there's more people on the waitlist than there are enrolled in the course (!!) should I expect them to open more seats?

Thanks! And good luck on the coming semester, everyone :)

dt

u will most definitely get into the course, i took it last year, was it same situation, they expand enrollment by ALOT and many students are dropped since attendance is taken first couple weeks, also very very easy and very interesting class :)

awesome! thank you very much :D

however, in my case, i only have sophomore standing and i’m 183 on the waitlist.

do u think it’s worth staying on the waitlist and showing up for 2 weeks or just finding another class?

sushi-it is very very likely you will also get in, only because they expand enrollment way over classroom size, hence why during midterms and finals the exams are administered in both the main auditorium and 1 or 2 classrooms, plus 1/4ish of the class stops attending when attendance not taken

Dang… did you guys get the email they just sent out? They can only accommodate very few students from the waitlist… :frowning: did you get in?
