Hi everyone. I’m a rising senior and have narrowed my list of colleges down. I’m applying to my state flagship as a safety school. My brother goes there and I’ll be in the same major as him (biochemistry) if I get in and attend.
I’m trying to get as many gen-eds out of the way with AP classes. One of the requirements is a psychology class and a sociology class. I’ll have credit for psych and am wondering if I should CLEP out of sociology in order to save time and money, as it doesn’t seem like an essential class to my major.
Is this a good idea?
I would suggest talking with someone at the state flagship you have mentioned. As long as you are certain that is where you want to attend, an academic advisor or the registrar’s office should be able to tell you whether taking the sociology exam would be acceptable in their biochemistry program. Just because a university states that a specific CLEP test will be accepted by them does not mean every program offered at that university will accept it. Always good to check first…
