It’s Soda in Massachusetts too.

it’s soda here in the DC region.

but go on to southern MD and I think they speak a whole different language there.

Woo DC represent

Pop, usually. Sometimes soda.
I’m from Iowa…

http://tastyresearch.files.■■■■■■■■■■■■■/2006/10/popvssodamap.png

Interesting map ^^^^

^Way to ruin the thread for us. :P

Soda. Coke is what you pop people for.

It’s coke here

Customer: Can I have a coke?
Waiter: What kind would you like?
Customer: I’d like a sprite.

^why wouldn’t you just say sprite in the 1st place?

the worst is the people that say “soda pop”

Pop doesn’t make any sense but I guess it does if you live in the midwest or northwest.

Calling all soft drinks Coke is just plain dumb.

'Tis soda in California.

pop, ***?

I don’t really say any. I usually just say the name of the kind of soda I want. Like “Hey can I have a Mountain Dew?” or “Gimme a diet pepsi.”

But most peple here, in alaska, say soda.

Canada = pop
SC = soda
coke = coca cola/crack

I say soda. I live in OH. I think technically, we’re supposed to say “pop” around here, but we’re also supposed to say “please” when we mean “could you repeat that?” This isn’t Germany anymore.

Definitely soda, though I can see how pop would appeal to some. Coke just doesn’t do it for me.

What a dumb conversation. I hate other parts of the country.

TCBH, i can’t agree more.
its definitely soda in CA.
usually older people say “pop” and uneducated individuals (ie.the south) use “coke” (jk)

It’s just soft drinks here in India. We generally ask for the specific drink we want, as opposed to saying, “Oh, I want a soda/soft drink” or whatever.

I kind of like pop though.

i’m addicted to coke.

I don’t care what that map says, here most people say soda, or as much as it makes you guys cringe, soda pop. I’ve only heard very few people generalize it under coke. That’s just insane…

california = sodaaa
except as people have mentioned people do say pop in oregon. i’m sorry that’s just odd. pop is an abbreviated form of “popular” which would only apply to pop culture and pop music.

coke… more understandable but nonetheless odd.

although i say soft drinks at really rare occasions XD
