Soda, Pop, Coke?

I just say sprite, because that’s the only type of soda I drink.
I may say soft drink at restaurants that only give you cups and you get your own soda out of the fountain.

I’m from PA.

Pop, I’m from the MidWest and that is what everyone calls it. But my parents are from the Northeast and they call it soda, so I usually use both.

I say “pop”. (Indiana)

Hey now, that’s kind of a generalization. I think pop and soda sound ridiculous because I also don’t hear them on a daily basis and it’s not natural to me.

They’re also called soft drinks, but coke is just used as a general term.

In informal settings, you say Coke because Coca-Cola owns the South.

In more official settings (i.e. grocery stores and restaurants), you’ll see them called “soft drinks”.

Am I the only one who calls it “fizzy pop”?

I use “soda pop” sometimes, but it’s usually “fizzy pop” for me.

…I live near San Francisco. >_>
