Software Engineering

How is SE at GTech?

Son is into software right now and is learning the Ipod apps programming on his own (from OCW - Stanford), he has finished a 4 month course in 2 weeks n ready to go.

Previously he has learnt web designing tools on his own and is doing PT work on that front as well. He is a HS rising senior now. Done very well at Math and Physics.

So far it looks like he wants to go into SE, but I am not so sure its going to be Fun all the way! He also loves to analyze products and when new tech products or apps come out he sits for hours and comes up with ideas of what could have been done better.....

Please offer your suggestions as GT is his top few fav but it looks like a high match for him. Will surely apply there and maybe go ED even. Thanks!

Software Engineering is not a major at Georgia Tech…

Similar majors are Computer Science and Computer Engineering.

Thanks. Shall ask him to look up the course descriptions.

Computer Engineering is not similar to Software Engineering at GT. His best bet would be Computer Science undergrad and Software Engineering Masters…

Thanks.

GT seems like the right place for him. He is a techy but not nerdy…if that makes sense.

do they still have the software engineering masters program? i dont see it in the list of degrees. im a accepted transfer student to tech. i want to do software engineering but i dont know what to major in.

is there someone i can contact at tech for questions about majors? because i have yet to find it. i dont have an advisor.
