Hey guys I was considering attending sohop. I wanted to know more about the program. What do you do? Do you take classes? At night, do the hosts take you out to see what the social scene is like at Hopkins? (Social life is a factor in my final decision) My friend is interested in Hopkins as a prospective junior, could I bring him as well?

This answer is based on previous SOHOPs and may not exactly represent this year’s program.
- There's a whole range of things you do at SOHOP. During the day you can sit in on classes, go on tours, attend a student organization showcase, attend special SOHOP seminars, and more. In the evening there's a structured program with speeches by deans and other faculty and a music and dance showcase.
- At night your hosts generally have free reign and they usually take prefrosh to programs around campus. However if you're caught doing something...illegal (like underage drinking) you run the risk of having your admission rescinded and the host could get in trouble so hosts generally don't take their prefrosh to parties and the like.
- You can bring your friend for the day events but they won't have a host so they won't be able to stay overnight.
Does anyone know what the faculty spotlight options for this year were? I remember looking two days ago and there were 5 but now there are only 3 options so I decided to just go with the only engineering one left.
