<p>Yes participating in S & E is good for you and in some ways a preview of a college audition depending on how your state handles the competititions.</p>
<p>But if you mean will a jury member look at your resume and see you got top score(s) on S & E in High School and affect your being accepted into a music program, then no it will not help you.</p>
<p>I think S&E is more helpful for NON-music majors to put on their resume than music majors. I agree that it is helpful for practicing auditioning, but it won't give you a boost in admissions at all.</p>
<p>Some states give scholarships toward tuition with the highest scores. Louisiana did this, $25 (?) toward tuition for every I at every competition throughout high school. The catch was that it was only good for public universities and each school could only send so many in each category. There were categories in the academics, too.</p>
