Some advice please?

I write poetry pretty often and I'm not sure what to do with it all. I have it in one binder and I let people read it. I've even put some in my school's literary magazine(basically the school paper but only poetry). Does anyone know where I could publish some of it so I get more people to read it/get more feedback? Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

There are multiple things you can do, actually. You can start your own fanzine and self-publish your material. This is great because you can distribute your work anywhere you want. You could also enter your work in writing contests or scholarships. It’s good exposure at least and it’ll look good on future applications. Maybe you can get one of your teachers to sponsor you? Good luck :)

PM some to me and I’ll gladly read it :3

@turtle, I’ve thought about compiling it all together but I don’t know where to put it. Like if my school would freak if I did this instead of submitting to the poetry magazine. And what contests and scholarships are there? I’m really kind of an air head…
@609, I have like 3 on my iPod(which is what I use when I come one here) so which would you like? Creepy, disturbing or nice and sweet?

Well there are merit based ones and there are ones that have you answer a prompt and write an essay. The latter seems better suit for you. For example, the scholastic art and writing award contest takes place every year for high school students, try to find something simular. If you’re unsure about your school, go see your counselor or someone in the administration for some perspective. I don’t think anyone would blame you for having the initiative to start your own process of publishing your work.
